Two Days On The Water In The Lowcountry
Day 1 // Monday
Learn The Basics & Creek Fishing
Day one is all about the fundamentals of fishing in the Lowcountry. Campers will learn everything they need to catch bait, rig their rods, cast, and retrieve. This is a hands-on experience where our captains will share their years of experience fishing our waters.
Campers, parents, and captains will meet on the deck of the Ripley Light Yacht Club at 8 AM. We'll have a quick safety briefing, answer any questions you may have, and help load the campers onto the boats. We'll wave goodbye as we set off to learn how to catch live bait.
We're setting off from the dock and heading to the creeks to learn how to throw a cast net and catch live bait. We're learning about the bait, when they're in the creeks, and what species love to feed on them.
With the live wells full of bait, we'll teach each camper how to rig their new Penn combos—tying on leaders and hooks, and rigging their freshly-caught bait.
Now we're into the fun stuff, fishing! For any anglers with limited casting experience, our camp captains will teach them everything they need to know! From line management and flipping the bail to the different types of casts, we can't wait to get your camper hooked into a fish!
We'll pull both boats up into the grass or spot-lock in a creek and take a break for lunch. Campers are welcome to keep fishing while we eat.
With our casting arms rested and our bellies full, we're going to keep hitting the creeks until its time to head back to the marina for dropoff.
We'll meet you back at the dock with your campers. Feel free to take your new combo home to practice tying and rigging or leave it in the boat because we've got a full day of fishing tomorrow!

Day 2 // Tuesday
Put Your Skills To The Test & Catch Fish
Day two is all about fishing and learning some deeper water techniques in the harbor (weather permitting). We're fishing deeper water for big redfish and sharks—sure to be an unforgettable day of fishing for the campers.
We'll meet at Ripley Light Yacht Club to go over the plan for the day, the locations we're fishing, and help your campers onto the boats as we wave goodbye and set off for another day of fishing.
Every camper will ready their cast nets as we head into the creeks to test their skills in catching live bait for the day. Our captains will work with each camper to help them hone their throws and dial in their bait-catching skills.
Today, we're fishing deeper water in the harbor for big redfish and sharks. Campers will learn about deep water rigs, why they work, and how to tie them.
With our deep-water rigs ready, we're hooking up live bait and fishing for big fish! We'll be fishing a mix of bottom for a mix of species around iconic spots like Castle Pickney and Fort Sumter.
We'll get both boats together with spot-lock on the trolling motor and break for lunch. While we're eating, campers are welcome to keep fishing!
Depending on the weather and the tides, we'll hit a few more spots to keep your campers engaged and hooked into some awesome fights.
We're heading back to the dock to drop off your campers and their new fishing gear for the ride home.

Capt. Taylor Mitchum
Growing up in the Lowcountry with a Coast Guard father, I developed a love for the water and fishing, especially for Redfish. As a kid, I spent hours exploring creeks in my jon boat, dreaming of doing it every day. After graduating from The College of Charleston in 2022, I earned my captain’s license and joined 4 Sons in 2023, where I’ve been living the dream ever since. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m passionate about sharing the waters I love with others.
