Charleston Deep Sea Fishing (Gulf Stream)

On our Charleston deep-sea fishing trips, we’re heading 50-75 miles offshore to the Gulf Stream. On these trips, we target a variety of pelagic species, including Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna, Sailfish, and Marlin. We employ strategic fishing techniques, such as trolling with specialized gear, while utilizing advanced technology like satellite imagery to identify prime fishing grounds. Our experienced captains guide you through the journey, providing expert instruction and all the necessary equipment, ensuring a fun and unforgettable deep-sea fishing experience.

Target Species

Our deep-sea fishing trips in Charleston target a variety of pelagic species, including Mahi-Mahi, Wahoo, Tuna (Blackfin and occasionally Bluefin), Kingfish, Sailfish, and Marlin. We employ techniques such as trolling with Penn International 30 and 50 wide reels spooled with 30-50lb test line and rigged with 80-100lb wind-on leaders. We utilize a mix of deep-running baits like ballyhoo and Nomad jigs with planers and surface lures like cedar plugs and skirted ballyhoo, depending on the season and target species.

Where We Go

We’re going into every deep-sea trip with a game plan! We’re heading 50-75 miles offshore with about an 1-1.5 hour run time.

Our offshore trips utilize a combination of technology and traditional techniques. We analyze satellite imagery to identify temperature breaks and current lines, which are prime fishing spots. We also consider the Gulf Stream’s strong northward current, adjusting our course accordingly. Once beyond the ledge, we become active hunters, searching for signs of fish, including birds, floating debris, and baitfish activity. We deploy a spread of lines and troll at 7-9 miles per hour, constantly adjusting our course based on the changing conditions.
