Charleston Fly Fishing Trips
Our fly fishing trips in the Charleston Lowcountry offer a diverse experience targeting redfish, flounder, trout, sheepshead, and potentially tarpon. We’ll primarily fish during flood tides, especially around the new and full moons, exploring oyster flats, grass edges, and creek mouths. Meeting times vary based on the tide, ensuring we arrive when the fishing is most productive. We fish from Bull’s Bay to Edisto, chosen based on tides, weather, and your preferred location. Target Species
In the Charleston Lowcountry, we’ll target redfish, flounder, trout, sheepshead, and potentially tarpon during the warmer months. We’ll primarily fish during rising tides, especially around the new and full moons when water floods the flats. We’ll explore oyster flats, grass edges, and creek mouths, poling around to find fish. Meeting times will vary depending on the tide, ensuring we arrive on the flats when the fishing is most productive. Since fishing windows are often short, we’ll be in close communication to finalize meeting times and locations based on the specific tidal conditions.
We use crab, shrimp, and streamer patterns depending on the target species and season.
During the last couple of days of the flood tide, when it’s getting dark, we might only have an hour and a half to fish a flat. To get our full trip in, we may mix in some dock fishing and creek fishing while we wait on the tide to fill in.
Where We Go
We’ll fish throughout the region, from Bull’s Bay in the north to Edisto in the south. Exact locations will vary based on tides, seasons, and weather conditions. Bull’s Bay offers shorter travel times, while Edisto, known for its beauty and less pressure, has longer runs. We’ll prioritize your location (e.g., Mount Pleasant) when possible and choose spots with the best access and protection from wind. We’ll scout locations beforehand and have a flexible plan to adapt to changing conditions, ensuring a safe and enjoyable fishing experience.
